My name is Kate Riley and this March I graduated with a BA in communications studies from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. I couldn’t decide on one mode of storytelling when it came to my education, so I picked up both an English literature and creative advertising minor along the way. Simply put, I love being the person with the answer or idea that will grab your attention.

 

I’ve always been prone to dream big and completely immerse myself with my interests. There wasn’t a blank space in my childhood bedroom that wasn’t filled with The Hunger Games posters or One Direction drawings. I can’t imagine committing to a career that I do not wholeheartedly love and participate in outside of the hours that I'm on the clock. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in publishing the moment I realized it wasn’t exactly normal to read over one hundred books in one year. When I discovered that there was a whole industry of people just like me, I felt like I finally found my people (I wouldn’t have to bother my roommates with the plot of my newest fantasy romance book anymore!)

 

In my spare time I run a reading and cooking account (@katescurrentlyreading and @cookingmamas123). My favorite genres to read are romance, fantasy, sci-fi, memoir and contemporary fiction…please don’t ask me to name my favorite book. My favorite meal to cook is a spicy vegan chorizo chili. I’ve been a barista for over four years which means I have a serious caffeine addiction. Although I've outgrown my RedBull phase, I now drink tea like an adult. My favorite holiday is Christmas because I love opening presents, but not as much as I love gifting the better and more perfectly curated present.
